The Scottish Arts Council (SAC) is the principal channel for government funding of the contemporary arts in Scotland. A wide range of organisations including Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra are funded on an ongoing basis along with galleries, festivals, theatres, and arts centres. SAC also distributes lottery funds to the arts in Scotland.
